0  Brags 0's Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation offered the ultimate summer experience for 11 of the older, most deserving children in their program, a 13- day trip throughout the East coast to colleges, country clubs, and historical sites.
 "The 2006 East Coast Education and Leadership Tour" was inspired by this yearís Tony Bennett and Mike Agassi Fundraiser. Carol Wolfington, who attended the Fundraiser, got so excited about what she experienced that she was led to put together the ultimate summer trip for these children. The idea was to offer them a plethora of experiences in hopes of broadening their horizons and showing them all that is possible for their lives.
 By studying and examining the biography and life of Benjamin Franklin, the children were taken on a journey of this country's early beginnings, including a tour of Independence Hall, Old City Philadelphia including a horse & carriage tour, Valley Forge Park, and most importantly, they had conversations about what makes someone a true success.
Each morning the children were given an inspirational talk by national leaders, coaches and successful entrepreneurs, including Hall of Fame Philadelphia 76erís player/coach and owner of the Miami Heat, Billy Cunningham; Former GM of the Super Bowl Philadelphia Eagles and Founder of the Ronald McDonald House, Jim Murray;
Tennis Legend, Billy Jean King; Real estate Mogul, Brian O'Neill; Car Industry Mogul and Film Producer, Eustace Wolfington; NBA player, Jameer Nelson; St. Joseph's University Basketball coach, Phil Martelli; and Villanova basketball coach, Jay Wright. Each of these offered their take on what makes a person successful and happy, and invited the children to ask questions, comment and most of all, look at their lives in a deeper and more meaningful way.
 Thanks to Billy Jean King and Rose Weinstein, our children were chosen as ball kids for Pete Sampras and Venus Williams during the World Team Tennis tournament at Cabrini College. King took a sincere interest in the kids and spoke with them at length about their life. "She really listens and mentors the children." said Ryan Wolfington, who founded and runs the Foundation. "I was impressed with the way she tapped into each kidís mind and got to know them in a real way."
 Thanks to tennis leaders in the Philadelphia community and the help of Rose Weinstein, the children played at a different country club almost daily. These East coast country clubs are known for their beauty and exclusivity, but thanks to the help from members and tennis directors, these kids got the chance to experience some of the best grass courts and tennis clubs in the world at the Merion Cricket Club, the Philadelphia Cricket Club, and the Philadelphia Country Club.
They also enjoyed match play at Wayne Tennis Center and the new Authur Ashe Tennis Center. At the Merion they enjoyed the traditional lunch on the porch, and at the Philadelphia Country Club a highlight was having dinner on the patio which overlooks the golf course.
"I have been all over the country, and I have never seen clubs that have the history and beauty of these tennis clubs in Philadelphia," said Wolfington, who grew up minutes away in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
A key element of the trip was visiting some of the countryís best colleges, including University of Pennsylvania, Cabrini College, St. Joseph's University, and Villanova University. Here they were able to ask admission questions about how to prepare and get accepted into top universities, and how their tennis can help them get a scholarship.
The trip was capped off with a visit to the Princeton University campus in New Jersey, followed by a 3-day stay in Avalon, a beach community overlooking the Atlantic, thanks to the Eustace Wolfington Family. Then we ended the 13-day trip with 3 days in New York City, thanks to Cosmopolitan Resort Owner, Bruce Eichner.
The children stayed in suites at Eichnerís renowned Manhatten Club and were treated by him to see a Broadway show for the first time, "Beauty and The Beast."
While in town they loved seeing the Statue of Liberty and the Manhatten coast line via a water taxi, the World Trade Center memorial, Central Park, and they had fun haggling with merchants on Canal Street. It was a real experience.

The children stopped at One Liberty Plaza to thank Jason Spacek and Winston Ho at RBC Market Corp. for all they did at this yearís Fundraiser, making this trip possible.
Without people like Jason, Tony Bennett, Mike Agassi, Rashae and Jeff Taylor, Winnie and Bob Schulman, Bruce Eichner, Dana & Johm Goyak, Helen & Chip Johnson, Ravi Tumber, Scott Fraser, the Wolfington family, and all the annual supporters, trips like this would never be possible.
 "The Foundation would like to thank all our speakers, the colleges that hosted us, including Helen Stuart at St. Joseph's University, the Marriott in Conshohocken, PA, and most of all, Rose Weinstein at Wayne Tennis Center, Billy Jean King at WTT, Ian Crookenden at Philadelphia Cricket, Pat Nolen and Andrew Hocker at Philadelphia Country Club, Connie Van Housen and Pascal Collard at Merion Cricket, Bertucci's, Viggiano's, Vince and Donna Totara of Trattoria Totara, Antonelli's in Rosemont, Joanie and John Phelan.
 Most of all my family, Harry and Carol Wolfington, Sean and Anna Wolfington, Harry II & Tonya Wolfington, Sharon Wolfington-Brown, Stephanie and John Zigler, Lisa and Joe Corcoran, Brian O'Neill, and the Eustace Wolfington Family. Without your direct support for this trip none of it would have happened. Thank you," said Ryan Wolfington.
  "These kids train 3-5 hours 5 days a week, they don't get the social life other kids get. Whenever we can reward them like this, while helping them see their potential, it's a great thing for everyone. My family loved helping great kids, and the kids loved meeting my family. It was truly amazing."
