Foundations Mission

To inspire children in need through mentoring, tennis and education.

Goals

To create a pathway for children in need to receive the best possible mentoring, tennis and educational training possible.

To have a far reaching leadership program that can introduce recreational tennis to as many children possible, while also offering a high performance element allowing children to go as far as a college scholarship, if they choose to do so.

To develop leaders of the world, who are kind, hard working, competitive, and close to conscience.

To identify and welcome a diverse group of children to our programs

To educate each family on our program, our expectations and how it can benefit them.

To create the ultimate environment where children love to play tennis, are inspired to get great grades, are motivated by a positive social life and armed with life skills to help them be successful on and off the court.

Vegastennis.com's Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation as part of their "Leadership Breakfast" program recently had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Niuton Koide a well know n cardiologist in Las Vegas. He spoke to the children about his success in life and how hard work and being focused always kept him at the top of his medical class.

He was born in Japan and raised in Brazil. Dr. Koide completed his cardiology training at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. He sub specialized in Cardiac Electrophysiology (heart rhythm specialist) at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Koide is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and English and he enjoys being able to communicate with the diverse Las Vegas community.

He also did a mini presentation of how to eat healthy and the benefits it has on your heart. He went into detail and explained the long term effect of saturated fat in the arteries producing atherosclerosis and how to avoid that problem as to avoid strokes and heart attacks. "After listening to the Dr. Koide it was very eye opening that everything we put in our body effects our health and how we feel. When I was a little boy I always said I wanted to live to be 106. This might be my first step in achieving that goal! Seriously though, I will pay much more attention to eating healthy and choosing what I know is right for my body," said Dillon Berkabile.

The children really enjoyed playing tennis with Dr. Koide and listening to the many interesting facets of his life and occupation.

By Ryan Wolfington

Marty Hennessy taught Frideric Prandecki when he was 8 and 9 years old. Then the young boy moved to Poland and 6 years later found himself in the most troubling time of his life. His parents got divorsed, his mom moved to America and he had no idea what had happened to his world.

Mentoring Is Our Foundation

The most important thing we do on and off the court is mentor children on the principles of life

Instill independence, self-confidence by:

1. MENTORING PROGRAM- This is the most significant part of our program. Children need someone who wants to know what they are doing, who takes an interest in their success, failure, and struggles. Just being able to discuss things gets issues out on the table and resolved. Otherwise, a child’s feelings get stuffed down and this creates conflict, which can result in bad behavior. Our mentoring program is significant, and entails a daily interest talking to each child about their grades, about their tennis, about their worries and anxieties, about their relationship with their parents and about their future possibilities. Kids for what ever reason rebel against parents at 12-18 and we help the children see that what their parents want for them is good. To me this is what this Foundation is about. The tennis is just a vehicle to change a child’s life and inspire them to be the best they can be. Our goal is to develop the leaders of the world, who are kind, hard working, competitive, and close to conscience. This formula we know will help children overcome the pressure to do the wrong thing in relationships, with alcohol and other destructive substances or lifestyles. If they feel right by doing right, they will not need false ways to feel right.

The Foundation, the Wolfington family and Bruce Eichner sponsored a 13-day “East Coast Education, Tennis and Leadership Tour” of Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York.

Here they visited colleges like Penn, Princeton, and Villanova, then played tennis at the best clubs. They had inspirational speakers every day, including Billie Jean King, Billy Cunningham, Ronald McDonald House Founder Jim Murray, NBA player Jameer Nelson, Villanova coach Jay Wright, and St Joseph’s final 4 coach Phil Martelli.

They also visited historical sites like Independence Hall, Valley Forge Park, and finished the trip with 3 days on the beach and a trip to NY with a Broadway show. Then to cap it off, advisory board member Tamyra Alexander and Venetian President Robert Goldstein donated 200 show tickets to Phantom of the Opera and Blue Man Group, which the children will go and see this winter.
